The Texas Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, held it’s 2008 Reunion and Convention at the
Victorian Resort & Conference Center in Galveston, Texas, June 6, 7, and 8. The reunion began
Friday night with a reception at the “Strand District” hosted by Ed Cotham author of “Battle on the Bay”.
Saturdays events included a memorial ceremony at the Episcopal Cemetery, a Galveston home tour, SCV Awards
Luncheon and Texas Division Banquet with speaker Susannah U. Bruce, Ph. D. The convention concluded with a
8:00 am Prayer Breakfast on Sunday Morning conducted by Division Chaplain Jerry Haynes. Conroe Camp 1479,
Granbury’s Texas Brigade, received a “4 Star Camp” award and the award for the “Best Website in the Texas Division.”
